Australia Cruise To Victory Over England

England 135 (Flintoff 31, Bracken 3-16, Johnson 3-22, Clark 2-24)
Australia 136-2 (Hayden 67no, Gilchrist 45)
Australia beat England by eight wickets

Australia cruised to an eight-wicket win over England to book their place in the Super Eight stage of the World Twenty20 in Cape Town.

Matthew Hayden hit an unbeaten half-century, putting on 78 for the first wicket with Adam Gilchrist 45 after England had set Australia 136 to win, a target which did not prove any great challenge to the world champions.

England will also take their place in the Super Eights but will have to improve on today's performance as their batting lacked the required tempo and their bowlers failed to put the ball in the right areas to restrict the Australian batsmen.

England's score of 135 all out owed much to Andrew Flintoff, who hit 31 from 19 balls before fast bowlers Mitchell Johnson, Stuart Clark, and Nathan Bracken took eight wickets between them.
