Australia will rest all-rounder Shane Watson for the second One-Day International against England in Brisbane on Friday.
Watson bowled five overs without taking a wicket and then registered a two-ball duck in the opening match in Melbourne, which Australia won by six wickets.
He played all five matches in The Ashes and will now take a break ahead of the third ODI in Sydney on 19th January.
Meanwhile, Aaron Finch and James Pattinson will be allowed to play in the Big Bash Twenty20 tournament for the Melbourne Renegades on Tuesday.
"As we have done with Mitchell in Melbourne, we will look to give Shane a break for the second match," head coach Darren Lehmann said.
"Both James and Aaron will play for the Renegades, neither of these players have been involved in the Ashes Series so their lead in to this ODI Series has not been as intense."
Mitchell Johnson, who took 37 wickets during the Test series, missed the match in Melbourne but is expected to return at the Gabba.
