Lakshmipathy Balaji has earned a recall to the Indian national squad, replacing Munaf Patel for the One Day International series in Sri Lanka.

India lead the series 2-0 but Patel has succumbed to a hamstring injury which means Balaji makes his first appearance in the Indian squad for three years.

He last played for India in August 2005 before back injury ruled him out of the game for a long period but he made a successful comeback in last year's Indian Premier League, taking a hat-trick for the Chennai Super Kings and has continued that form in the Ranji Trophy and the Duleep Trophy.

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Praveen Kumar, Lakshmipathy Balaji, Pragyan Ojha, Zaheer Khan
