Royal Challengers Bangalore 188-2 (Kallis 73no, Uthappa 42) beat
Otago Volts 108 (Cumming 20, Kallis 3-18) by 80 runs
Airtel Champions League Twenty20, Bangalore

Jacques Kallis inspired the Royal Challengers Bangalore to an 80-run win over the Otago Volts that saw them qualify for the next stage of the Champions League and the Volts exit the tournament at the earliest opportunity.

The South African all-rounder scored an unbeaten 73 as the Challengers racked up 188 for two before taking three for 18 as Otago were bowled out for 108 in reply.

Kallis, whose runs came from just 59 balls, found excellent support from Robin Uthappa (42), Virat Kohli (32) and Ross Taylor (32 not out) as all four batsmen scored at well over one run per ball; Taylor smashing his runs from just 11 deliveries with two fours and three sixes at the death.

Otago's innings was interrupted by a short rain shower before it was cut short by excellent bowling, the Volts all out for 108 in just 17.5 overs as Kallis took on the starring role.

He also claimed a catch to add to his career-best bowling figures (he'd also passed 1000 T20 runs earlier in the day as well), setting things up nicely with the wickets of the top three batsmen.

With Otago under pressure, Bangalore capitalised, Vinay Kumar and Anil Kumble grabbing a pair of wickets apiece with Roelof van der Merwe and Balachandra Akhil also in the wickets.

Otago captain Craig Cumming top scored with just 20.
