Bangladesh have added uncapped Shamsur Rahman to their Test squad to play England after key players Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan were rated as doubtful for the series which begins on 27th May.
Tamim continues to struggle with a wrist injury while captain Shakib is suffering with chickenpox.
Rahman has played 37 first-class matches and has scored two centuries, also playing for Bangladesh Under-19s and Bangladesh A.
Rahman, 21, captained Bangladesh A in a recent one-day series against South Africa A and West Indies A having also played for Bangladesh A against England in February.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chairman of selectors Rafiqul Alam said in a statement:
"The Bangladesh team management requested a batsman as a back-up and the selection committee felt Shamsur would be the right choice as he is comfortable batting anywhere in the top five and is in form.
"He will also get ample opportunity to get acclimatised to the English conditions before the Test series starts."
Bangladesh take on the England Lions from 19th May before the first Test in Lord's opens England's international summer.
