The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have strongly criticised Bangladesh for their performance in the first Test against Zimbabwe, with media committee chairman Jalal Yunus describing their batting performances as “disappointing”. He also urged any players who are battling injuries to return to Dhaka to regain full fitness, with Shafiul Islam and Ziaur Rahman added to the squad as cover for Rubel Hossain and Shahadat Hossain.

"The batting performance in Harare had no similarity with that in Sri Lanka," said Yunus. "We are disappointed with this poor showing by the batsmen. The senior players haven't showed enough responsibility. I would urge the players who are not fully fit to return to Dhaka and get themselves into 100% fitness."

Bangladesh picked several players in their squad for the tour of Zimbabwe who were not fully fit, with Shakib Al Hasan playing in the first Test predominantly as a batsman and Tamim Iqbal missing it altogether as he completed his recovery from a thumb injury.

To compound their woes, Shahadat was forced out of the first Test with a knee injury, while Rubel hurt his shoulder while playing in the match.

The second Test begins on Thursday, again in Harare, with Tamim almost certain to play and other changes to the batting and seam bowling possible.

Bangladesh Test squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (captain), Tamim Iqbal, Jahurul Islam, Mohammad Ashraful, Mahmudullah, Mominul Haque, Nasir Hossain, Sohag Gazi, Rubel Hossain, Shahadat Hossain, Shahriar Nafees, Enamul Haque jnr, Robiul Islam, Sajidul Islam, Shakib Al Hasan, Ziaur Rahman, Shafiul Islam.
