Bangladesh beat Ireland by 195 runs to win the ICC Under-19 World Cup Plate Final while Canada beat Papua New Guinea by two wickets to claim 11th place overall.
Ireland were comprehensively outplayed as they conceded 307 for eight before being bowled out for 112 in reply. Mominul Haque hit 81 in 100 balls, Mahmudul Hasan 52 in 64 balls and Shabbir Rahman 47 in just 24 balls as Bangladesh piled on the runs despite Andrew Balbairnie taking four wickets.
Ireland were then bowled out in 38.5 overs, opening bowlers Alauddin Babu and Kamrul Islam Rabbi both taking three wickets as Ireland slumped to 39 for five. Graham McDonnell (31) and Ben Ackland (34) saved Ireland from a complete embarrassment but they were two of just four players who managed to reach double figures, Ismal Rabbi ending the game with a hat-trick, dismissing Shane Getkate (4), Eddie Richardson (0) and Craig Young (0).
Ireland's finish of tenth is their best ever at an Under-19 World Cup.
It was a much closer match in Napier, where Canada had to fight hard to overcome Papua New Guinea. PNG were bowled out for 145, opener Heni Siaka making 50. It took Canada 49.1 overs to overhaul that total, Nitish Kumar top scoring with 38.
