Teaming success with good looks, the England Cricket team is drawing in a new flock of female fans dubbed the BARBIE ARMY.

Traditionally a gentlemen’s game, viagogo, Europe’s largest online ticket marketplace, has in the past month reported a 240% increase in females purchasing England cricket tickets with the One Day Internationals being the most popular tickets amongst the female fans.

Possibly inspired by Liz Hurley’s ‘passion’ for the game and Pippa Middleton recently spotted supporting her man in a local game, cricket is becoming more and more popular with women with some tickets currently trading on viagogo for up to £230.

With reportedly the best looking team of England Cricketers to date, it seems young women are willing to pay a premium to be bowled over by more than just the action on the pitch.

Ed Parkinson, director of viagogo UK said: “Whether it’s down to England’s magnificent form or down to aesthetics, our data shows that securing tickets to see the winning England team is a rapidly growing trend amongst women this summer!”

Tickets to the One-Day Internationals are available on viagogo now.
