Tour game, Chittagong
England got 52 overs of batting practice on the final day of their drawn tour match against Bangladesh A in Chittagong, Alastair Cook confirming his good form but other batsmen missing out.
Kevin Pietersen (20) was bowled by Mohammad Ashraful, one of three wickets for the discarded Test batsman, as his run without a big score continued.
Tim Bresnan (36) took advantage of time at the crease having been promoted but James Tredwell (11) was unable to do the same while Michael Carberry scored 35 in 28 balls.
Unbeaten when the game ended were Jonathan Trott, on 21, and Ian Bell, on seven as Ashraful returned three for 76 only to be greeted with the news later in the day that he would not be featuring in the Test series.
Earlier in the day, Cook and Carberry bowled nine overs between them that cost 189 runs as they allowed the Bangladesh tail to hit out and force the declaration, which when it came, set England a nominal 284 to win.
Shuvaguto Horn and Dolhar Mahmud tucked in, Horn smashing 91 in 30 balls and Mahmud helping himself to 66 in 17 balls after Roqibul Hasan and Saghir Hossain had both departed having hit 51.
England take on Bangladesh in the first Test in Chittagong from Friday, 12th March.
