Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Lt. Gen Sina Ibn Jamali has sent a message of congratulation to the Bangladesh team following their 95-run victory over the West Indies in Saint Vincent.

“This is a momentous occasion for Bangladesh cricket and I hope that this fantastic win will act as a catalyst for many more triumphs," the statement to captain Mashrafe Mortaza read.

“The Board is extremely proud of the Team’s remarkable effort and our best wishes are with you.”

The victory was Bangladesh's first overseas and put them 1-0 up in the two-match series with the second match beginning in Grenada on Friday (17th July).

Mortaza is scheduled to undergo a scan on an injury that hampered his participation in the match and Nazmul Hossain has been flown out as cover for the fast bowler ahead of the second and final Test.

The win was only Bangladesh's second since being awarded Test status in 2000.
