Bears Announce £1 Million Sponsorship Deal
Local brewer, Marston’s has signed a long term deal with Warwickshire CCC worth over a million pounds to become the ‘Official Beer of Warwickshire CCC’. The company has been involved with the Club for over 5 years under it’s Banks’s brand but this deal proves a greater commitment to the Club and will enable both parties to develop their relationship well into the future. The deal positions Marston’s as the main sponsor of the Eric Hollies Stand and provide a number of other prominent properties at Edgbaston, as well as pouring Marston’s Smooth in all bars.
Marston’s have also agreed to become the shirt sponsor for the Bears pre-season tour to Grenada which is taking place from 14th March – 29th March. The Bears will warm-up for the season with 5 competitive matches coupled with net sessions and fitness work over the 2 week trip. The Bears 15-man squad will also be accompanied by a crew from Central TV who will be covering the tour for their sports bulletins.
Warwickshire CCC, Chief Executive, Colin Povey said, “I am delighted to sign such a big deal with a local firm who enjoy cricket as much as we do. This is an exciting deal for the Club and we look forward to extending what is already an excellent relationship with Marston’s.
Peter Jackson, Marketing Director of Marston’s Beer Company added, “We are involved with cricket at all levels, from the ECB to village clubs, but most importantly the supporters. Our relationship with Warwickshire has been excellent, and we will be the perfect partnership over the coming years supporting the club and it’s members.”
On the playing side, the Club is delighted to announce that Surridge have become the ‘Official Kit Supplier’ to the Bears until the 2009 season. Surridge are also already heavily involved in county cricket providing playing kit for Surrey, Durham and Gloucestershire. The deal sees the Bears launching a new teamwear range, with new shirts for the Liverpool Victoria County Championship, both one-day competitions and the Twenty20 Cup.
Commercial Director, James McLaughlin, commented, “Surridge is a brand synonymous with cricket and have developed a great reputation as kit suppliers. I look forward to working with them and developing a solid partnership over the next 2 years. This new deal will also benefit members and our affiliated Club Together teams as we will be able to offer our new range at lower prices than in previous years.”
