Ben Smith Signs New Contract With Worcestershire

Ben Smith has signed a full time contract with Worcestershire CCC to remain as a player for the next two seasons and take on the role as a specialist Fielding Coach on a year round basis.

Director of Cricket, Steve Rhodes, explains, "We are delighted that Ben has agreed to extend his playing contract for a further two years. He is the ultimate professional in terms of attitude, work ethic and performance. These qualities rub off on other players which means he plays a key role on and off the field. Whilst his cricket will remain a priority, we want our younger players to benefit from his skills hence the offer of the full time post as a specialist fielding coach.

Ben Smith says: "This is an important opportunity as it allows me to continue playing for Worcestershire CCC which is of paramount importance to me but also enables me to start developing a future career in cricket. Since joining the County in 2002, I have seen the team develop a blend of youth and experience which augurs well for the next few years and I really look forward to being an integral part of what we all believe will be great success on the field."
