West Indian fast bowler Ravi Rampaul described his performance in taking four wickets during his side's comprehensive eight-wicket win over India on Sunday as his best bowling effort.
Rampaul picked up four for 37 as India were bundled out for 188 and the home side raced to 192 for two inside 35 overs at Sabina Park, Jamaica.
“It was the best I have bowled for a long time," he said. "I was playing four-day cricket and coming back to One-Day, my rhythm and everything went well - today I bowled really well.
“I was getting a little swing with the ball so I was just waiting for them to play the rash shots,” he added. The first eight wickets to fall were all to catches behind the wicket as India lurched to 82 for eight.
Rampaul added that he tried to use the short ball as a weapon against the Indian batsmen as well.
“They weren’t too comfortable with the short balls so I used it as a surprise delivery,” he revealed.
And Rampaul, who has now played 34 One-Day Internationals, has his sights set on playing the longer format of the game for his country.
“I enjoy all types of cricket matches, I am just waiting for my opportunity to play Test cricket,” he said.
With the series levelled up at 1-1, the third and fourth matches take place in St. Lucia on Friday (3rd July) and Sunday (5th July).
