All-rounder Ian Blackwell will make his Durham debut in their four-day game against the MCC which begins at Lord's tomorrow (9th April).
Durham have named a 13-man squad which also includes pace bowlers Graham Onions and Mitch Claydon after they impressed during pre-season.
Coach Geoff Cook commented: “To start our 2009 campaign against the MCC at Lord’s as the Champion County is something we have been looking forward to and it will certainly be something to remember for the lads that represent us and for our supporters. The MCC team is an especially strong one so we’re expecting stiff competition.
“It’s a great for Ian Blackwell that his Durham career starts with such a prestigious match. Graham Onions and Mitch Claydon put in some excellent bowling performances during the pre season tour so are looking to continue that form.”
Absentees are Paul Collingwood (IPL preparation), Steve Harmison (rested by the ECB) and Mark Davies (recovering from an injury picked up in New Zealand.
