Boyd Rankin Signs For Warwickshire

Warwickshire CCC have confirmed the signing of Ireland fast bowler Boyd Rankin on a two year deal.

Boyd turned down a deal with Derbyshire CCC to join the Club after hearing that he would have the opportunity to work with the Bears’ new bowling coach Allan Donald.

Commenting on his decision Boyd said, "Derbyshire made me a very good offer, and it was a difficult decision to leave, as they have been very good to me and I'd like to go on record to thank Mike Hendrick who has been instrumental in my career development.”

"However once the opportunity arose with Warwickshire, and the chance to work with their bowling coach Allan Donald, it was something I had to go for. I'm looking forward to the next few years."

Bears’ Director of Cricket, Ashley Giles, said, "We are excited about adding Boyd to our staff. He has real potential not just for Warwickshire but at international level as well. Boyd has the ideal fast bowling attributes for our new coach AD to work with and develop. We will be agreeing a comprehensive programme with Boyd and plan to work closely with him and the Irish team over the winter months."
