England fast bowler Stuart Broad has signed a new three-year contract with Nottinghamshire that keeps him on the books at Trent Bridge until the end of the 2013 season.
He is currently centrally contracted by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) but the terms of his Nottinghamshire contract will come into place should he lose his ECB deal.
"We fully expect that Stuart will maintain his place in the England team for years to come but this contract re-affirms his commitment to Nottinghamshire," Director of Cricket Mick Newell said.
"We knew he was in the England selectors' thoughts when we signed him in 2008 and although his county apperances have been limited, he has always performed exceptionally well when he's turned out for us."
Nottinghamshire, who make 5/1 fourth favourites to win the LV= County Championship this season, expect Broad to feature for Nottinghamshire before England begin their international programme this summer as he continues to recover from the injury which ended his World Cup campaign early.
