England fast bowler Katherine Brunt has undergone surgery on her back to address symptoms associated with a chronic disc bulge.
The injury ruled her out of the final six matches of England's victiorious Ashes campaign in Australia earlier this year.
After the injury did not settle down following her return home, the decision to operate was made.
This is her second back operation, havnig undergone spinal surgery in 2007 and she will now begin a programme of rehabilitation before she can return to competitive cricket.
The vastly experienced Yorkshire player has represented England 124 times, playing nine Tests, 73 ODIs and 42 Twenty20 Internationals.
Her injury meant she was not considered for selection ahead of the ICC Women's World Twenty20, which gets underway next week in Bangladesh.
