During the recent British Sandwich week, the catering team for The Point, the new conference and events venue at Lancashire County Cricket Club, were given the task of producing a variety of healthy option sandwiches. A simple enough task they thought, until they were informed they’d need to be fulfilling enough for a bunch of hungry builders!
The very lucky recipients invited to sample the delights, prepared by head chef Nic Ashurst and his team, were from construction company Morgan Ashurst who have been working on the multi-million pound conference and events development at Old Trafford Cricket Club since April 2009.
As the construction workers walked onto the pitch their eyes lit up as they saw the array of mouth-watering food laid out on a picnic blanket awaiting their arrival, pictured above.
Peter Ash, Sales Manager of The Point said:
“Although the menu preparations for The Point are almost complete, head chef Nic Ashurst and general catering manager Gordon Greig decided to take advantage of British Sandwich week and invite the on-site workers to give their opinion of sandwiches that may appear on the menu.”
“If empty platters are anything to go by our guests are going to be in for a treat. As the guys were leaving the pitch they were wondering how they could coax their partners into preparing similar style sandwiches for their lunch box the next day. I think Nic might be getting a few phone calls for some advice!”
The Point is going to be one of the most prestigious event venues in the country. Due for completion in June 2010, this purpose-built facility will be able to accommodate a conference or a formal dinner for up to 1,000 people.
