Surrey 410-7 (Burns 174no)
County Championship Division One, The Oval, day three

Rory Burns remained unbeaten on 174 as Surrey managed to post 410 for seven at stumps on day three in response to Hampshire's first innings total of 648 for seven in their County Championship Division One clash at The Oval.

Surrey resumed their first innings at 113 for one, trailing Hampshire by a massive 535 runs.

Conor McKerr (1) and Steve Borthwick (3) fell early in the day but Burns (174 not out) completed his half-century at the other end and added 56 runs for the fourth wicket with Jason Roy (27).

Even though, Roy fell, Burns continued to defy the Hampshire attack and had support of Dominic Sibley (57) at the other end as Surrey went close to the 300-run mark.

Kyle Abbott (2-45) provided the breakthrough when he trapped Sibley LBW but Burns rallied with the lower order, especially Tom Curran (35 not out) as Surrey reached 410 for seven in 126 overs.

At stumps on day three, Surrey trail Hampshire by 238 runs with three wickets in hand as Burns batted throughout the day, close to nine hours.
