Lancashire 155-5 (Buttler 42no) beat
Derbyshire 152-8 (Madsen 52) by five wickets
North Group, Natwest T20 Blast, Manchester
Jos Buttler played a calm innings under pressure after Matt Parkinson sparked on his debut with a three-wicket haul as Lancashire registered a five wicket win against Derbyshire in the Natwest T20 Blast North Group encounter in Manchester.
Derbyshire opted to bat first on winning the toss. Billy Godleman (2) was stumped in the second over of the innings.
Matt Critchley (40), Luis Reece (37) and Wayne Madsen (52) all contributed but the innings went off track after Parkinson (3-17) and Junaid Khan (3-28) triggered the collapse with a three wicket haul each.
Madsen reached his fifty in the final over but Lancashire did well to reduce Derbyshire to 152 for eight in the 20 overs.
In the chase, Karl Brown (30) and Liam Livingstone (23) shared a 48-run opening stand off 29 deliveries. Imran Tahir (2-32) was introduced in the fifth over and immediately provided the breakthrough when he accounted for Livingstone.
At the end of 8.3 overs, Lancashire was placed 72 for four and Dane Vilas (20) too fell in the 14th over after his 17-ball innings.
This is when Buttler (42 not out) and Ryan McLaren (24 not out) held their nerve and added an unbeaten 43 run stand to help the team complete the chase in 18.3 overs with five wickets in hand.
