World Cup warm-up match, Dubai
Canada were dismissed for just 105 on their way to a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Afghanistan in their latest ICC Cricket World Cup warm-up match in Dubai.
They managed to last just 30.3 overs before Afghanistan, who won't be participating in the World Cup, reached 109 for five in 23.3 overs to hand the Canadians a hefty defeat.
Canada were reduced to eight for five after winning the toss and batting first and they were unable to recover from the early blows inflicted by Hamid Hassan (3-28) and Shapoor Zadran (2-18).
Mirwais Ashraf then returned four for 39 to end Canada's batting effort, in which Khurram Chauhan top scored with 24.
Afghanistan then blazed away in reply, Asghar Stanikzai hitting 27 in 23 balls and although they lost wickets, they were never seriously headed, Mohammad Nabi unbeaten on 19 when the winning runs were hit.
Canada are 2000/1 outsiders to win the World Cup and make them 1/66 to exit at the group stage.
