Former Sri Lankan international fast bowler Chaminda Vaas has signed a deal to return to Northamptonshire as their overseas player in all competitions for the 2011 season.
Vaas represented the Steelbacks duringt he 2010 Friends Provident t20 competition, helping them reach the quarter-finals by scoring 459 runs and taking 17 wickets.
Vaas is a veteran of 111 Test matches and 322 One-Day Internationals during his international career.
“Chaminda made an excellent contribution for Northants Cricket during 2010 and it will be great to have his all-round services to call upon on a more regular basis throughout the 2011 season," head coach David Capel told the club's website (www.northantscricket.com).
Northants Cricket’s Chief Executive Mark Tagg added: “Experience and quality are essential elements of a successful team and Chaminda brings both in abundance.
