Chasing Teams Prevail In Double-Header

The teams batting second in this week's CricHQ MCA Summer League double-header were victorious, as Marsa CC beat Krishna CC, who then beat Marauders CC.

In the first game, Krishna batted first and made 118 runs from their allotted overs. Tony Azzopardi top scored with 26, Sam Aquilina made 25 and Simon Lavendar 22, rounding up their top scorers.

The Marsa team bowled reasonably well, Bikram Arora took two wickets while Ravi Sharma, Tim Wheeler and Chris Naudi took a wicket each.

The Krishna team were bowling well dismissing six batsmen for 37 runs, that is until Bikram Arora (40 fruns from 26 balls including three sixes and two fours) and Ravi Sharma (25 from 14, including three fours) met at the crease and took the game away.

The Marsa team made the required runs in the 18th over. For Krishna Sarfraz Ali took three wickets, Kevin Krishna two while Suhrid Roy, Nowell Khosla and Haroon Majeed took a wicket each.  Marsa earned 13 points for the win while Krishna earned one.

In the second game the Krishna team came up against the Marauders CC. The Marauders batted first and made 118 runs from their allotted overs. Paul Bradley made 33 of them, Sean Byrne 25 and Phill Gibbs 18.

For Krishna, Kevin Krishna took two wickets, while Ali Hamza (from the juniors) playing in his first game took a wicket. Sid Anand and Nowell Khosla also took a wicket each.

In reply Tony Azzopardi was consistent, 25 runs, while Haroon Majeed, who made 11, in the first game made 42 runs, Sam Aquilina made 17 runs and the runs were made in the 16th over.

For the Marauders Sean Byrne and Paul Bradley were the only wicket-takers. Krishna earned 13 points for the win while Marauders drew a blank.

Next Saturday sees the mixed game between the Women and Juniors from 9:00 am till 10:30am as well as the return of Leyland C.C who will be on their seventh tour in a three game series.
