21-year-old fast bowler Steven Cheetham could make his Championship debut when Lancashire travel to Nottinghamshire to play their LV County Championship match which begins tomorrow (30th June).

Cheetham has been added to the 12-man squad because James Anderson, Andrew Flintoff and Sajid Mahmood are on England duty while batsman Francois du Plessis will miss the match after he picked up a calf tear during the Twenty20 Cup match against Derbyshire on Thursday.

Tom Smith is another bowler out of action as he continues to recover from a side strain which means that Karl Brown is in the squad for the first time this year following impressive performances for the second team.

Lancashire (from): Paul Horton, Karl Brown, Mal Loye, VVS Laxman, Mark Chilton, Steven Croft, Luke Sutton, Kyle Hogg, Glen Chapple (captain), Oliver Newby, Steven Cheetham, Gary Keedy
