Chris Gayle is set to return to international cricket after a 14-month absence after he was named in the West Indies' One-Day International squad ahead of the England series.
Gayle last featured for the West Indies in the 2011 World Cup, since when he was involved in disputes with the board over contractual issues and statements made in public.
Fresh from the Indian Premier League, where he scored over 700 runs for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he is one of seven players introduced to the squad who aren't already in England with the Test side.
Fellow IPL players Dwayne Bravo, Dwayne Smith, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard are also included as the West Indies look to be at full strength for the three-match series.
Young batsman Johnson Charles gets his opportunity to impress alongside more experienced players such as Gayle, Marlon Samuels and Tino Best.
"We are now beginning to move into the next phase of the development of the team as we continue to build our ODI side as we continue to plan for the 2015 World Cup," Clyde Butts, Chairman of the selection panel said.
"A number of players who we have been exposed to international cricket and who, by their recent performances, have shown that they can play roles in the team have been retained.”
“There is, what we believe, is a balanced combination of young rising players like Sunil Narine in the bowling department and Johnson Charles in the top order of the batting in addition to the well known seasoned internationals.
"Chris (Gayle) is a player of proven quality and we are looking forward to him adding this dimension to the side and his contributions as a senior member of the squad," he added.
The series gets underway at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton on 16th June before moving on to The Kia Oval, London on 19th June and Headingley, Leeds on 22nd June.
The West Indies will be hoping for a better performance than the Test series, where they currently trail 2-0 with one match remaining.
