Titans 123 (Gale 4-10) beat
Brisbane Heat 119 (de Lange 3-13) by 4 runs
Champions League Twenty20 Group B, Mohali

The Titans took their first win of the Champions League Twenty20 2013 in a game in which both teams lost three wickets in the final over of their innings.

Matthew Gale returned four for 10 on his Champions League debut as the Titans were bowled out for 123 but they hit back to dismiss Heat for 119.

Needing 10 to win from the final over, Brisbane lost two wickets to the first two balls, both to run outs, and then with four needed to tie, Alister McDermott was comprehensively bowled to hand the South African side a four-run win.

Gale had started and ended well, dismissing Jacques Rudolph for one before Titans, through Henry Davids (39), Heino Kuhn (31) and AB de Villiers (28) rallied.

Back game Brisbane and aside from those three no other player could reach double figures and the Ritans slumped from 70 for one to 123 all out.

Gale was Heat's hero, having Farhaan Behardien caught by Nathan Hauritz for nine, Morne Morkel caught by Chris Hartley for nought and removing Rowan Richards caught and bowled without scoring.

Daniel Christian picked up two for 16 by removing the dangerous David Wiese (5) and wicket-keeper Mangaliso Mosehle (6).

Through James Hopes, Brisbane got off to a storming start although Richards (2-20) and de Lange (3-13) combined to take out Hopes' support.

Joe Burns (0), Peter Forrest (8), Ben Cutting (0) and Christian (21) fell by the wayside and when Hopes followed them in the 17th over, Brisbane were 84 for five and looking down and out.

After Chris Lynn and Chris Hartley had made 14 and seven respectively, Chris Sabburg smashed 19 in seven deliveries to haul his side back into the match.

With 10 needed from the final over, the game was in the balance; but not for long afterwards.

Sabburg then perished from the first ball when he took on the throw of Roelof van der Merwe and found himself short of his ground as Mosehle whipped off the bails.

One ball later, Mosehle was at it again as he threw down the stumps to run out Gale who had tried to pinch a bye as Nathan Hauritz got nowhere a 92 mph delivery.

A couple of leg byes and two runs raised the admitted unlikely prospect of the scores finishing level but de Lange put paid to that eventuality by getting one through McDermott (2) to end the contest.

The win lifts Titans on to four points in Group B alongside Chennai Super Kings and Trinidad & Toboago.

Group B points: Trinidad & Tobago, Chennai Super Kings, Titans 4 points, Brisbane Heat, Sunrisers Hyderabad 0 points
