Cockspur Rum Named As Official Rum Of West Indies Cricket

Cockspur Rum is set to bring some of its famous Caribbean spirit to the wicket this summer as it announces that it is to become the Official Rum of West Indies Cricket for the tour of England 2012

The move is the latest in a series of sponsorships which strengthens the brand’s popular association with the sport.

As part of the campaign the brand will undertake consumer facing activity, including tapping into its new social media sites, conduct activity at grounds and will introduce an on pack promotion which will give consumers the chance to win a trip to the brand’s home in Barbados.

Philip McTeer, Cockspur Head of Brand UK commented: ‘Cockspur has built up great brand awareness amongst cricket fans over the years and is continuing this strong association through its involvement with the West Indies cricket tour.

We’re proud to be an authentic rum from the West Indies island of Barbados and look forward to getting behind the “Windies” team  this summer.’

Dr. Ernest Hilaire Chief Executive Officer of the West Indies Cricket Board commented: ‘As we start our overseas campaign this year the WICB  is delighted that locally produced rum Cockspur will be joining us on what we hope will be a successful  tour.

We look forward to a fruitful and continued partnership with Cockspur.’
