England & Wales Cricket Board chairman David Collier has paid tribute to former Surrey and England fast bowler Peter Loader, who has died aged 81.

Loader played 13 Tests between 1954 and 1958, taking 39 wickets while his first-class career garnered him 1,108 wickets at an average of 19.04 for Surrey before he retired in 1963.

He was part of the Surrey outfit which won seven consecutive County championships between 1952 and 1958.

"Peter was an integral part of the famous Surrey team that won seven consecutive County championships in the post-war era and deserves to be remembered as one of the finest fast bowlers of his generation," Collier said.

"Only the depth of fast bowling talent available to the England selectors in the 1950s prevented Peter from winning more than 13 Test caps and his loss will be mourned by all those connected with Surrey and England."
