England Women opened their tour of India with a comfortable 141-run win over an Indian Board President's XI in Bangalore.

Batting first, the reigning world champions scored 273 for nine with Lydia Greenway retiring having hit 81 and opener Sarah Taylor making 52. Beth Morgan (21), Caroline Atkins (25), Jenny Gunn (32) all got starts before the innings was given a boost late on by Laura Marsh, who made an unbeaten 19 in nine balls.

In reply, the Board XI then crumbled to be bowled out for 132 in 41.2 overs, England not looking back once they reduced their opponents to 33 for three.

The early wickets were taken by Katherine Brunt and Isa Guha, who snapped up one apiece before Marsh and Nicki Shaw took two each and the innings was finished off by captain Charlotte Edwards, who returned three for 14 to complete an emphatic win.

England take on India in five One-Day Internationals, the first of which is in Bangalore on 19th February, and three Twenty20 Internationals.

England Women have named a 15-player squad to tour New Zealand to play five Twenty20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals in February and March. England have added Somerset quick bowler Anya Shrubsole to the squad which returned from South Africa as Katherine Brunt will be rested.
The England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced an increase in renumeration for the successful England Women's team prior to their tour of South Africa. The 2009 ICC Women's World Cup and World Twenty20 winners will now receive tour fees and incentivisied appearance fees which will double the funds available to the players.
England Women have named a 14-player squad to tour South Africa in October with 20-year-old Georgia Elwiss the only uncapped member of the group. The Sussex medium-fast bowler will be aiming to make her international during the series of three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals in Potchefstroom.
