Cook Sets Sights On New Season

Essex and England opener Alastair Cook is planning on putting a difficult Ashes tour behind him as he begins his preparations for the 2007 domestic campaign.

The 22-year-old struggled to maintain a fine start to his Test career as he averaged 27.60 in his side’s 5-0 series defeat at the hands of Australia.

Nonetheless, a century was recorded at Perth as the left-hander notched up his fourth hundred during his first year of Test cricket.

Now Cook is aiming to put his difficulties in Australia behind him as he prepares for the next English season at county and international level.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Essex CCC website, Cook reflects on the Ashes, discusses his World Cup prospects, reveals pre-season plans and shares his thoughts on his new-found fame.
