Cork And Marshall To Leave Lancashire At Season End

Lancashire County Cricket Club has decided not to offer Dominic Cork a contract for the 2009 season.

This decision was made with the longer term development of the playing staff in mind and to allow the side to evolve, providing younger players the opportunity to grow into the team.

37-year-old Cork has been a great ambassador for Lancashire both on and off the field, and is fully committed to finishing the Championship season with the club. It would be a fitting end if he was to complete his Old Trafford career on a high note, by helping Lancashire to win the elusive Championship title.

Lancashire County Cricket Club will support Dominic in every way to help him extend his cricketing career past this season.

The club will also not be renewing the contract of 26-year old Leg-Spinner Simon Marshall for the coming season. Simon has made valuable contributions to the club, particularly in Twenty20 cricket, and is keen to continue in the First-Class game.
