As we enter the eighth week of the 2017 Specsavers County Championship, Essex and Nottinghamshire will have the challenge of retaining their pole positions in Division One and Division Two respectively.
Specsavers County Championship - Division One
Lancashire v Hampshire
Lancashire have a resounding success against Hampshire as they lost a solitary game in the 27 encounters between the two teams while winning 12 and 14 ending in a draw. Lancashire are also yet to lose a game at home in their six appearances, winning two in it. Hampshire's Kyle Abbott has the highest number of four wicket hauls in an innings this season, having achieved it five times, while Lancashire's Alex Davies needs 54 more runs to complete 2,000 first-class runs.
Middlesex v Yorkshire
Middlesex enjoy good success against Yorkshire after they registered wins in all three previous encounters including the decisive final round last season where they won to win the title. Gary Ballance is on the verge of another milestone as another three runs will take him to 9,000 first-class runs while Yorkshire's Australian recruit, Peter Handscomb require another 17 runs to reach 5,000 runs.
Essex v Warwickshire
Essex's stay at Division One has been smooth so far as they are the only team to remain unbeaten after playing six games but Warwickshire will enter the game having won four out of the five previous games against them.Tom Westley of Essex needs another 60 runs to reach 8,000 first-class runs.
Specsavers County Championship - Division Two
Durham v Glamorgan
Durham will face a daunting task as they are yet to win a game against Glamorgan in their last 11 appearances which has ended in nine defeats and two draws. This will also be the second time, these two teams will face each other this season with Nicholas Selman's unbeaten ton steered Glamorgan to a thrilling three wicket win.
Nottinghamshire v Leicestershire
Nottinghamshire have made heavy progress this season winning four out of the seven games and are yet to lose a game as compared to last season where they managed a solitary win. Nottinghamshire are also yet to lose a game in their last four clashes against Leicestershire in which they registered two wins.
Worcestershire v Kent
Kent's Darren Stevens has the most five wicket hauls this season, having recorded it five times. Kent have lost just two games in their last 25 appearances with 10 ending in a win and 13 with draw. When the last time, these two teams met, Kent ended their six-match winless streak which had four draws and two defeats.
