We preview tomorrow’s county fixtures and round-up the latest news from the county circuit.

Tomorrow’s Fixtures:
Day One, LV=CCD1, Durham v Worcestershire at Chester-le-Street
Ben Stokes returns from England Lions duty as the only change to Durham’s 12-man squad. Both sides desperately need a win to help them avoid relegation.

Day One, LV=CCD1, Somerset v Sussex at Taunton
Marcus Trescothick is expected to play despite having reported soreness in his troublesome ankle. The other notable inclusion is that of on-loan signing Sajid Mahmood. Gemaal Hussain and Nick Compton will both face late fitness tests. Lewis Hatchett is added to the Sussex squad which beat Middlesex a fortnight ago.

Day One, LV=CCD1, Warwickshire v Middlesex at Edgbaston
Chris Woakes and Varun Chopra return from playing for the England Lions and are both named in Warwickshire’s 13-man squad. Tom Milnes is also included. Middlesex have called up Ravi Patel as a replacement for left-arm spinner Tom Smith, who was ineffective during the defeat to Surrey at The Oval last week. Tom Scollay also replaces Andrew Balbirnie from the side that contested that match.

Day One, LV=CCD2, Leicestershire v Hampshire at Grace Road
The Foxes welcome back off-spinner Jigar Naik from a long injury lay-off, but he is only expected to play if Claude Henderson does not recover from a hip injury. Matthew Hoggard is expected to return to lead the side. Hampshire have named a largely unchanged 13-man squad and look set to once again leave out spinner Danny Briggs from their starting eleven.

Day One, LV=CCD2, Northamptonshire v Derbyshire at Wantage Road
Jack Brooks returns to Northamptonshire’s squad at the expense of Con de Lange, while table-topping Derbyshire are expected to be unchanged from the draw with Yorkshire.

Group B, CB40, Surrey v Glamorgan at The Oval (1440 GMT start)
The match is doubling up as a memorial match for former Surrey and Glamorgan cricketer Tom Maynard and will see the completion of the sponsored bike ride which is being done to raise funds for the Tom Maynard Trust. On the field, Surrey must win to keep their semi-final hopes alive and have included Jon Lewis and Kevin Pietersen in a 13-man squad. Glamorgan have named John Glover and top-order batsman David Lloyd in their 13-man squad.

Weather Forecast: Tomorrow will be cloudy with sunny spells, but very little rain. There will be a chance of catching a shower in the west, but it will remain relatively warm, with temperatures peaking at between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius.

County News In Brief:
Somerset have signed Lancashire fast-bowler Sajid Mahmood on loan for the remainder of the season. The Cidermen have suffered another spate of injuries lately, with Gemaal Hussain, Lewis Gregory, Craig Meschede, Alfonso Thomas and Adam Dibble all out of action. The Overton twins are also unavailable due to England Under-19 commitments.

Gloucestershire have signed Middlesex’s Zimbabwe-born seamer Anthony Ireland on loan for the remainder of the season. Ireland was told that he was surplus to requirements by Middlesex last week and rejoins the club that he played for between 2007 and 2010 as cover for the injured Ian Saxelby.

Middlesex have allowed fast-bowler Robbie Williams to go on loan to Leicestershire. He is currently playing for Leicestershire second XI after being told that he would not be having his contract at Middlesex renewed when it expires at the end of the season.

Australia A captain Ed Cowan will play again for Gloucestershire this year after agreeing to replace regular overseas player Rob Nicol for Gloucestershire’s match against Northamptonshire, which begins on the 4th September. Nicol has been called up to New Zealand’s Twenty20 squad for their tour of India.
