Work is almost complete on the County Ground’s permanent marquee – a new facility that is set to revolutionise hospitality and conferencing at Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
The Club is already a premier Derby venue for conference & banqueting events but - with the Gateway Centre Cricket Hall proving to be extremely popular for cricket – the County Ground’s capability for hosting dinner/dance functions for 200 plus had been limited.
The new marquee will ensure that this is no longer the case and it is already in popular demand for bookings including weddings as well as dinner/dance events.
The marquee will be in use for hospitality guests during the match against Australia on Thursday and Friday of this week.
It will then be officially opened on Thursday 15th July – the opening day of the Derbyshire Festival of Cricket – Celebrating 140 Years (sponsored by Orchid IT) – when Don and Mary Amott host a sold out function in aid of Derby Hospitals Charity. The NatWest Women’s Series International between England and New Zealand will provide a fitting backdrop to the occasion.
The facility will then host the Marketing Derby bondholders and their guests on the following Tuesday as Derbyshire face Gloucestershire Gladiators in a Clydesdale Bank 40 fixture.
