The Ashes are coming home according to bookmaker Ladbrokes who now quote the safe return of the little urn just a 1/50 chance.

An England series victory is also odds-on at 8/15 on the back of a complete bowling display in the first innings which saw Australia all out for just 98. As such England are 1/7 to win the game with Australia 16/1 to perform a sensation U-turn and come from behind to win.

The bookies took their largest ever cricket bet before the start of the series of £250,000 from an anonymous patriotic punter who backed England to win.

Alex Donohue Ladbrokes' cricket betting expert, said: “The odds suggest that the urn is already in the departure lounge. After a clinical display of bowling England look to have taken hold in the 4th test. This is great news for our mystery punter who looks set for a late Christmas present of giant proportions!”
