Ladbrokes have revealed that English fans are extremely confident that a 5-0 Ashes whitewash is on the cards this summer.

England head into The Ashes as the odds-on favourites at 4/11 and without a ball even being bowled the 5-0 whitewash has been backed in to 12/1 (from 25/1), with a first Test win at Trent Bridge (4/5) looking like a formality as far as punters are concerned.

It comes as no surprise to the firm to see Jimmy Anderson (2/1) fancied to be England's top bowler at the Nottinghamshire ground after taking 39 wickets in his last 6 Tests there. Stuart Broad (11/4) and Graeme Swann (3/1) are also proving popular bets for success on their home ground.

Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott are a top price of 7/2 to top the scoreboard this week, with Joe Root (5/1) chalked up at 3/1 to get his first Ashes Test off to a flier by notching up a ton.

Jessica Bridge, cricket betting expert atLadbrokes said: "Punters have never been so bullish about an Ashes whitewash. A ball hasn't even been bowled yet and the odds have halved into 12/1. Normally there would be some money knocking around for the Aussies, but that simply isn't the case this year, and it speaks volumes about the exciting summer of cricket ahead."
