Cricket Betting: Aussies Favourites Again
- Paddy Power 4th Test Betting Preview -
Australia are once again the favourites to win the Ashes series following their Perth thrashing of England, reports Paddy Power.
The home side are now 6/4 to win the five test series with England marginally behind at 13/8 as the teams prepare for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.
It’s a similar tale for the Fourth Test with Paddy Power making the two teams on offer at the same odds for the match win (6/4 Australia; 13/8 England) with the draw 9/4. Kevin Pietersen is the 7/2 favourite to top score in the first innings for England whilst Jimmy Anderson is 9/4 to lead their bowling attack with most first innings wickets.
Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said about the latest cricket odds: “The Third Test has taken all the crucial momentum right away from England but they are a team which has proved it’s bouncebackability in recent years and it’s almost impossible to split two teams that are both littered with both brilliance and inconsistency.
“However punters are just about staying loyal to England at this stage with 46% on an England win in Melbourne compared to the 39% who are backing the Aussies.”
In a series that is seeing many of the batsmen experiencing run-spree highs or crushing failures Paddy Power is also betting on who will score a century or a duck in the first innings with Ricky Ponting’s indifferent form making him a tempting 10/1 to be out without scoring. But the Australian captain is 7/2 to fire back to form with a first innings ton at the MCG and 12/1 to be man of the match.
England’s most likely men for a first innings century are Pietersen, Cook and Strauss, all at 7/2, whilst Matt Prior is considered the most likely batsman to score a duck at 6/1.
