England head in to their first Test against India completely friendless with punters according to Ladbrokes, who have released their latest cricket betting odds for the series.

India are strongly fancied to get off to a flier at 8/11 with England left untouched as the 4/1 underdogs, even with the inclusion of Kevin Pietersen. And it's not looking too promising either for Andy Flower's side in the outright betting with India looking home and dry as the odds-on favourites at 8/15.

However, if there is one man to lead England towards an unexpected victory the money suggests it will be Pietersen who tops the batting in the first innings at 7/2 or 3/1 during the series. There's also a 12/1 chance he caps off his 'second début'  for the team with a Man of the Match worthy performance.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "The injuries to Finn and Broad during the warm-up games left us with no choice bar to push England out, but not even the most loyal and patriotic punters are backing England at the bigger price, showing how hard a task they face in India."

She added: "One minute punters are backing KP to never play for England again, the next he's fancied to champion the side towards victory. He's very much the Jekyll and Hyde of the England team this year but a strong performance in India could soon resurrect his on/off relationship with England fans."

England are on the drift in The Ashes cricket betting according to Ladbrokes. Following England's less than impressive start to the 1st Test against New Zealand, the firm are still favouring a home win this summer at 1/2 (from 4/9), with Australia's odds cut to 3/1 (from 7/2).
England will be very happy to hear that Graeme Swann & Tim Bresnan have been passed fit for the first test against New Zealand. As a result England are 1/2 red hot favourites to deliver victory in the first test, with New Zealand 8/1 outsiders. England can be backed at 5/4 to win the series 2-0.
Chris Gayle's 175 not out in the IPL is possibly the greatest ever T20 innings there is ever likely to be. 175 from 66 balls with 17 sixes and, had he not by his own admission "slowed down" in the middle of his innings, it could have been 200! The West Indies has given the cricket world batsmen like Gary Sobers, Brian Lara, Viv Richards and now Chris Gayle joins the greats of West Indian cricket.
Following his astonishing feat of scoring 100 in just 30 balls, William Hill are offering cricket odds of 25/1 that any professional cricketer manages a faster 100 this year. "Chris Gayle was simply stunning and it will be some feat if anyone manages to beat the 30 ball hundred this year,” said William Hill cricket betting spokesman Rupert Adams.
William Hill are looking forward to the return of the Indian Premier League, which is now the biggest cricket event of the year. Despite the absence of Kevin Pietersen and Shane Warne, the bookies are predicting a huge betting event. As it stands Chennai Super Kings are the 4/1 favourites, followed by Kolkata, Mumbai & Bangalore at 5/1.
New Zealand have been cut to win the third test according to Ladbrokes. Following the news that Kevin Pietersen is to miss the match the bookmakers report an upturn in stakes for the home side to defy the cricket betting odds, resulting in their price shortening to 11/2 from 6/1.
