ENGLAND ARE friendless with punters ahead of the 3rd Test at Lord's according to Ladbrokes.
Following Kevin Pietersen's dismissal from the squad England have been shunned in the betting at 5/2 in favour of a South African win at 7/4. With mixed weather forecast for the weekend ahead nifty punters are also looking to make a small fortune out of the draw at 11/8.
After KP hit a show-stopping 149 in the 1st innings at Headlingley attention now returns to Alastair Cook, Jonathon Trott and Andrew Strauss as the joint 4/1 favourites to rack up the runs at Lord's. And the firm are top price on all England's top runscorers.
Since the ECB announced they've received an apology from Pietersen the firm have slashed the odds on his return to play for the national side (in any form) to 1/6 from 4/11, however his chances of making his comeback at the T20 World Cup are looking slim as it's odds-on at 1/2 he fails to make the squad.
It's 1/3 that England have lost their status as world Test number one side to South Africa by the end of the weekend.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "We're anticipating the patriotic money will come in tomorrow but at the moment we cannot give England away. Sorry might have been the hardest word for KP to say but the odds suggest he'll need to start grovelling if he wants a place in the T20 squad."
