England's cricketers are odds-on (2/5) to still be world number one by the end of the current test series with Sri Lanka, according to Ladbrokes.
 
Andrew Strauss's team are the 2/5 favourites to wrap up victory on the final day of the second test with the draw a 9/4 chance and Sri Lanka 16/1 to complete an unlikely turnaround.
 
At 4/7, the bookies expect England to still be the number one team in test cricket on New Year's Day. South Africa are 7/4 second favourites to displace them by the end of the year.
 
David Williams, cricket betting expert atf Ladbrokes said: "After a pretty lousy Winter the smiles are back on the faces of England fans. It'll be a huge shock if England fail to get over the line on the final day in Sri Lanka."
