William Hill make England their red hot 4/9 favourites to win the 1st Test, with New Zealand offered at 11/2. England go into the first Test with two key batsmen out of form.

Kevin Pietersen is 5/6 to score 35 or more but 5/6 to score 34 or less, whilst Nick Compton is 5/6 to manage 25 or more and 5/6 to score 24 or less. Alastair Cook is 7/1 to be man of the match for which Brendon McCullum is a 12/1 shot.

"On paper England look superior at both disciplines of the game but with question marks over the form of key batsmen, New Zealand are certainly not out of it," said William Hill cricket betting spokesman Rupert Adams.

Chris Gayle's 175 not out in the IPL is possibly the greatest ever T20 innings there is ever likely to be. 175 from 66 balls with 17 sixes and, had he not by his own admission "slowed down" in the middle of his innings, it could have been 200! The West Indies has given the cricket world batsmen like Gary Sobers, Brian Lara, Viv Richards and now Chris Gayle joins the greats of West Indian cricket.
Following his astonishing feat of scoring 100 in just 30 balls, William Hill are offering cricket odds of 25/1 that any professional cricketer manages a faster 100 this year. "Chris Gayle was simply stunning and it will be some feat if anyone manages to beat the 30 ball hundred this year,” said William Hill cricket betting spokesman Rupert Adams.
William Hill are looking forward to the return of the Indian Premier League, which is now the biggest cricket event of the year. Despite the absence of Kevin Pietersen and Shane Warne, the bookies are predicting a huge betting event.
