After England’s dominant display in the final test match to win the series 3-1, the England cricket team has been tipped to hold on to the Ashes for a number of years. Paddy Power quote an odds on 1/3 that England retain the Ashes in 2013 and whilst the Aussies are 7/4 to next win in 2014/15, the news that it is only 11/4 they won’t pick up the Urn until 2018/19 will be music to English fans’ ears.
Whilst the team is celebrating a famous win, the players have also been keen to say they want to keep improving and surely have the number 1 test ranking in their sights. Paddy Power offer 12/1 that England are on top of the World Rankings by the end of 2011.
At the ICC World Cup England are third favourites at 9/2 to add to the Twenty20 crown, with India the 7/2 favourite followed by Sri Lanka at 4/1.
Roberto Coladangelo, cricket spokesman for Paddy Power said; “English Cricket is on a massive high. The brilliant series win in Australia and winning the World Twenty20 Cup in 2010 sets the team up for a big 2011. They are making the right noises about bigger and better achievements so who knows 12/1 on topping the rankings might just be a good bet.”
