William Hill have seen a surprising amount of support for India ahead of the third test at Edgbaston. The visitors are 4/1 at Hills and have been the subject of a number of four figure bets, while England are virtually friendless at the moment attracting a biggest bet of £450 at 13/10. The draw is also proving relatively popular at 11/8 having been cut from 15/8 earlier on in the week.
England are 1/7 to win the series by two clear tests and become the world's number one side.
“Our punters are obviously of the mindset that India have to improve at some point as they are the number one test side for a reason,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Even if they do drop down the pecking order at the end of the series.”
Following a rather successful series so far, Kevin Pietersen is the most popular man in the top run scorer market at 4/1, while Sachin Tendulkar is the 12/1 punters’ favourite for Man of the Match.
