Punters believe the Second Ashes Test in Adelaide this week has a draw written all over it with Paddy Power offering just Evens money for a stalemate.
Such is the history of the Adelaide pitch, with two of the last three Tests being drawn, that punters remain unconvinced either team will take 20 wickets in the match, backing the stalemate down from 11/10 to its current price. Should there be a victory, Paddy Power make Australia the more likely winners by the slimmest of margins at 9/4 to England’s 5/2.
Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: “Whilst the first game had several twists and it’s always enjoyable to see England 500-1 in an Ashes Test, only two wickets fell in more than two days of cricket. And that was at The Gabba so it’s questionable if these two teams are going to be able to bowl each other out in Adelaide where victories are even harder to come by.”
The Series remains a battle of the two captains Ricky Ponting and Andrew Strauss with both skippers 10/1 to be Man of the Match. Alistair Cook, now the second most successful Cook to land on Aussie soil, is 7/2 to follow up his double century with a ton in the first innings in Adelaide whilst it’s 50/1 that England’s top three batsman repeat their previous innings feat and all score centuries in the first innings.
Urn Winner Undecided
Having survived arguably the hardest of the five Tests for England in Brisbane, Andrew Strauss’ team are now level-pegging in the betting with their hosts with both teams at 11/8. England had been 7/4 outsiders to win the serious prior to the first Test.
