Cricket South Africa Fines Boucher For Kallis Comments

Wicketkeeper Mark Boucher has been fined 60 percent of his earnings in the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup after making comments supporting all-rounder Jacques Kallis which Cricket South Africa have decided contravened clauses in his contract.

After Kallis was omitted from the South Africans' Twenty20 squad, Boucher said, "He's the best all-rounder we've ever had and he's saved more games than anyone realises - and he is a far better one-day player than he is given credit for.

It is either those who have an issue with him, and have a chip on their shoulders, or those who have ulterior motives."

Cricket South Africa interpreted these comments as "calculated in their effect to embarrass CSA and to denigrate the T20 (Twenty20)."

Boucher has until Saturday afternoon to lodge an appeal, and it is understood that Cricket South Africa lobbied for him to be banned from playing in the tournament.
