Earlier this week, Pakistani refuguee Fawad Ahmed was added to the Australia 'A' team which is touring the United Kingdom.
A bill to amend the Citizenship Act - which would confirm Ahmed as an Australian citizen - is expected to pass into law and he will therefore be eligible to represent Australia at full international level.
Under current International Cricket Council (ICC) regulations, he will have to wait until 18th August to qualify to play for Australia although those regulations do not apply to 'A' teams.
"We are pleased to be able to provide emerging cricketers with an opportunity to show their abilities," National Selection Panel (NSP) Chairman John Inverarity said.
"Fawad is a spin bowler of interest and we look forward to seeing how he performs for Australia A."
In the video above, Ahmed talks about his journey from merely trying to survive, to playing first-class cricket and finally heading to England, where it is not beyond the realms of possibility for him to be involved in this year's Ashes contests.
