Cricket World® County Player Of The Week - David Hemp
Glamorgan captain David Hemp has been named as this week's Cricket World® County Player Of The Week after impressing as his side took two victories, both of which were aided by runs from the bat of the Bermudan international.
Glamorgan registered a rare County Championship victory at the end of last week against Gloucestershire, with Hemp scoring 87 in the first innings and an unbeaten 72 in the second innings where he was gifted runs with Gloucestershire keen to set up a result.
Hemp then marshalled his troops to a 114-run win, despite seeing a number of catches go down.
He carried his good form into the One Day game, leading his side to a 19-run victory over Somerset in the Friends Provident Trophy. He scored 95, easily top scoring and narrowly missing out on a century.
Other contenders for this week's award included Justin Kemp, who made an instant impact with Kent after gaining permission to play county cricket, team-mates Ryan McLaren and Yasir Arafat and Sussex wicket-keeper Matthew Prior.
The Cricket World ® Player Of The Week is judged by the www.cricketworld.com Editorial Team, which takes into consideration matches played in the preceding week with the final decision made on Monday morning.
