AB de Villiers has been named as the Cricket World® Player Of The Week after the role he played in South Africa's successful pursuit of 414 to beat Australia in Perth.

De Vililers scored 63 in the first innings of 281, took four brilliant catches and then marshalled his side to victory with an unbeaten 106 in the second innings. It was his seventh Test century and fifth outside of South Africa as the Proteas reached the second highest score to win a Test in the fourth innings.

The win came after Australia secured a 94-run first innings lead and was only South Africa's sixth win over the world-leading side.

De Villiers' contribution saw him take the weekly award despite excellent cricket being played around the world and other contenders included his team-mates Jacques Kallis and Graeme Smith, Australian bowler Mitchell Johnson, who took 11 wickets in the match but ended up on the losing side, Chris Gayle, Tim McIntosh, Rahul Dravid, Gautam Gambhir, who all hit centuries in Napier and Mohali respectively and Fidel Edwards, who picked up seven wickets, a career-best effort.

The Cricket World ® Player Of The Week is judged by the www.cricketworld.com Editorial Team, which takes into consideration matches played in the preceding week with the final decision made on Monday morning.

Users are welcome to discuss the award and put forward contenders for each week's award on our forum, to do so,
