South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has been named as this week's Cricket World® Player Of The Week after another superb display in the second Test against New Zealand at Centurion Park.

Having narrowly missed out on last week's award for his ten wickets in the first Test, he followed that up with ten more in the second as South Africa completed a 2-0 series whitewash in fine style.

He took four for 42 in the first innings as New Zealand continued to struggle against his raw pace, especially Craig Cumming, who was hospitalised by a rising delivery that caught him on the helmet.

Steyn returned to torment the Kiwis again in the second innings, taking six for 49 to finish with match figures of ten for 91 and twenty wickets overall in the two-match series.

Steyn's fine performances overshadowed the other contenders this week, although Phil Jaques deserves a very honourable mention for his superb form at the top of the Australian batting order. Jacques Kallis was once again in contention for his all-round efforts as was Sachin Tendulkar.

The Cricket World ® Player Of The Week is judged by the www.cricketworld.com Editorial Team, which takes into consideration matches played in the preceding week with the final decision made on Monday morning.
