England batsman Eoin Morgan has been named as the Cricket World® Player Of The Week after his batting helped his side clinch the One-Day International series against Australia with two games in hand.

Morgan scored 182 runs in three matches as England raced into a 3-0 lead after wins at The Rose Bowl in Southampton, the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff and Old Trafford in Manchester.

The opening match of the series saw England set a testing 268 to win but with Morgan unbeaten on 103 in 85 balls, having hit 16 fours, they got home with four overs to spare.

Two days later Morgan contributed 52 in 64 balls as England won by four wickets with just under five overs to spare having been set 240. And although he only made 27 in the third match, England went on to win the game by one wicket in the final over.

Morgan averages over 50 in One-Day International cricket for England having scored almost 1500 runs in all ODI cricket (including 23 matches for Ireland) with three centuries and nine half-centuries and has swiftly become England's key man in the crucial number five position.

Other contenders for the weekly award included Sri Lanka's Farveez Maharoof, who took a hat-trick against India, Shahid Afridi, who blasted 124 in 60 balls against Bangladesh and Andrew Strauss, who scored two half-centuries against Australia.

There were a number of worthy contenders for the latest Cricket World Player Of The Week award following the first full week of competition at the ICC Champions Trophy 2013. High-class performances from members of all eight competing nations were weighed up but Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara has been chosen as the award winner.

Cricket World Player Of The Week - Ian Bell

The battle for this week's Cricket World Player of the Week award is a close run one. Any one of six players could win the award, but it is the under-rated Ian Bell who takes it. Bell hit two unglamorous half-centuries for England last week - both of which led to wins and helped them get back on track after a poor showing in the first part of the ODI series against New Zealand.

Cricket World Player Of The Week - Martin Guptill

Martin Guptill is a shoo-in for this week's Cricket World Player of the Week award. The 26 year-old from Auckland hit back-to-back match-winning hundreds in the opening two One-Day Internationals against England and has almost single-handedly thrown their ICC Champions Trophy plans into disarray.

Cricket World Player Of The Week - Joe Root

The battle for this week's Cricket World Player of the Week award is a close contest between four men. Kamran Akmal and Kevin O'Brien both played starring roles in the highly entertaining ODI series in Clontarf, while Graeme Swann and Joe Root excelled during the rain-hit second Test at Headingley.

CW Players Of The Week - James Anderson & Stuart Broad

There can be only two possible contenders for this week's Cricket World Player of the Week award and it is virtually impossible to separate them. Stuart Broad took the man of the match award at Lord's for leading the second innings demolition of New Zealand, but without James Anderson's first innings five-fer there might not have been much of a run chase for the Black Caps on day four.

Cricket World Player Of The Week - Brendan Taylor

There can be only one winner of this week's Cricket World Player of the Week award. Zimbabwe's captain Brendan Taylor almost single-handedly led his side's batting in the Test win over Bangladesh in Harare, becoming the first Zimbabwe captain to score a century in each innings of a Test match.
